Ava is officially over 10 pounds. We weighed her at the doctor today and she weighed 10 lbs. 4 oz. Our little girl is getting so big.
Unfortunately, Ava is sick. We took her to a new pediatrician today because we really disliked our old one. Anyway, Ava is running a fever and just acts like she doesn't feel well. The doctor said it looks like she just has a normal childhood virus. We finally get to start taking her out and she gets sick! I guess it had to happen eventually.
I mentioned to our doctor that I didn't think Ava was holding her head up as well as she should. The doctor took a look at her and said she should be a lot farther along with her muscle tone than she is right now. She suggested an Early Childhood Intervention program. The program comes to our house for an evaluation and then sets the child up with an in-home physical therapy program if Ava qualifies. I really hope we don't need any of their services, but I will feel better once we get Ava checked out. If the therapy doesn't work or she isn't accepted into the program, the doctor wants Ava to be seen by a neurologist. I feel like we can't catch a break!!!
Anyway, that's enough for today. I am emotionally exhausted. I just want to be done with all of this and have a normal, healthy, strong baby.

It is good that you changed pediatricians, it is very important that you get a doctor you can trust. I am sorry that Ava is sick but she is on the antibiotic and fighting off these things will make her stronger in the long run. Don't worry too much about things until someone gives you something to worry about. All babies, even full term ones have little things that don't go according to the "norm". It is good to get these things checked out, it is not so good to worry about them. God brought sweet little Ava through all this and He will be right there with her through whatever the future holds. I will say a special prayer for you both, that Miss Ava feels better soon and that her Mama finds some peace!y
Kimberly-
Know that the Lord will not give you anything you and Kurt cannot handle. We have learned to trust Him more with each passing day as we are parents to Malachi and Emily. Allow Him to guide you and seek Him in the times of the unknown for HIS peace. We will pray for you, Kurt and Ava as you figure things out. Love you!

kim--sorry that miss ava is sick, the first time they get sick is so tough but she will be better soon. praying for her strength and for yours too.
Her first illness...it had to come sooner or later. I'm glad she's doing better, though. Don't worry about her progress. Every baby is different and there are things you can do with her to firm up her muscles. Like MAK said, God has already brought her and all of you through so much already; this is a cake-walk compared to that!
Love you, sis!
I'll be keeping you and Ava in my prayers! I'm sure you'll feel much better one she's been checked out. Please continue to keep us posted!
Hi Sweetie,
I love God's Word and how He provides such encouragement through the prayers and words of family and friends. "…His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 KJV.
I worked for the Interagency Council on Early Childhood Intervention and know the agency to be reputable. You're welcome to call me if you have questions.
I'm so proud that Ava is over 10 pounds. You're a GREAT mommy Kimberly and as we know that Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. Psalm 127:3. God has entrusted Ava in the care of you and Kurt. Just as God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore, (I Kings 4:29), you and Kurt also walk in the same wisdom when faced with making decisions about your beloved daughter, Ava. I've seen this wisdom in you both already. I love you all dearly. Jesus loves you more! ~lc
